Preview: Belgian championship sprint distance

On saturday 18/10 the 2nd edition of the Belgian championship sprint distance will take place. Because of an annulation at the 1st edition, the HE will run the championship again (story about the annulation). This edition, the competition will take place in a forrest instead of a city (maybe to avoid the same problems). The club KOL will organise the championship on the map 'Zillebos', scale 1/5000. The map is renewed in spring 2008 by Ukrainian mapmakers. Important information for the runners: it's not an ISSOM map.

This time 38 runners will participate. During the annulated version in may, 44 runners were present. Bart Delobel and Fabien Pasquasy were at EOC, but now they can try to take the victory. Also some junior runners like Michiels and Genar can fight for the victory in the elite class. On the other hand some strong runners like Jeroen Hoekx, Tomas Hendrickx, Nicolas Sillien and Etienne Van Gasse will be absent on saturday because of different reasons.

New Startlist:
If we take a look at the startlist HE, we can see that the best runners will start at the end. Fabien Pasquasy is the big favourit and he'll start in last position. Also the other favourits like Bart Delobel, Michel Bastin and Thomas van der Kleij will start very late.

If we analyse the startlist more carefully, it seems that the startlist is based on the Belgian raking. Only when 2 runners of the same club start very closely, the organisation has switched this situation (marked in yellow on the picture). Attention: the startlist is renewed yesterday, so some starttimes have been changed and runners have been added.
