Preview tiomila 2008

On april 26 and 27th, the most famous orienteering relay in the world will take place in Sigtuna (Sweden). In the mens class every team exists out of 10 runners, who will run 100km in total. The 2 longest legs, the 4th (16,5km) and 10th (17,5km), are not forked.

It's difficult to say who will win tiomila 2008. The top3 from last year are favourits again for sure. The winner Halden SK lost their star Mats Haldin, but Anders Nordberg is a good replacement. Emil Wingstedt will be the finisher in this team. Last year Vaajakosken Terä (with Pasi Ikonen and the brothers Lakanen) became 2nd and Kalevan Rasti (Gueorgiou) 3th. But also SNO, Ok Linne, KOK, IFK Göteborg and many others will fight for victory. In the startlist you can take a look at all the teams and their selected runners.

In the womens class the winner in 2007 was Soik Hellas (with Ryabkina), faster than Nydalens SK (Ingvaldsen) and Baekkelaget (Hanne Staff). The victory in the Springcup relay 2008 went to Ulricehamns and also here they have a very strong team (Cecilia Thomasson, Martina Fritschy, Simone Niggli, Jenny Johansson and Maja Alm). Last year a lot of Belgium runners were present (club Trol, Fabien Pasquasy, Thomas van der Kleij, Bart Delobel and Joost Talloen).
Also in 2008 2 Belgian runners will particpate:

Bart Delobel (IF Brahe): 1st leg (12,7km night-o)
Dennis Ducro (NTNUI 5): 2nd leg (12,3km night-o)

It's possible to watch tiomila on web-tv. It costs 60 Swedish crowns (= 6,5€) for all relays.
