Sensational victory by Oswald Van Bockstal
Today a chasing start competition took place in Solterheide. The time intervals between the runners were based on the Belgian champs long distance 2009 (average time/km). So the best runners started at the end of the pack and theoretical everyone had to finish at the same moment: 12h30. (startlist)
Ofcourse everyone didn't meet at the same time in the finish line, but it was a thrilling fight between 2 runners: Oswald Van Bockstal and Luc Talloen. Luc Talloen arrived 6 minutes too late at the startline, so Van Bockstal overtook him quite fast. Both runners took different routechoices during the race, but in the end it became a sprint. Van Bockstal showed his good shape (after running more than 90 competitions as preparation in 2009) and won by a small margin ahead of Talloen. Finally Frans Wens finished in 3rd spot.
The best individual time was won by Pieter Hendrickx. He started in last position and ran most of the race alone. His besttime was 30'56, more than 1 minute faster than Wouter Leeuws.
