EOC results: Middle Final

Today the Middle distance final took place. Middle distance king Thierry Gueorgiou won again his favourit discipline. Now he's European champion for the 3th time in a row (2004 - 2006 - 2008). He was faster than homerunner Sirmais and former World champion short distance Pasi Ikonen (who won already a heat in the long distane qualification at EOC). In the womens race, Finland was unbeatable (Jukkola, Rantanen and Kauppi). A few days ago Heli Jukkola decided to pass over the long final race, because she wasn't totally recovered from a flu. She wanted to focus on the middle distance, and now we can conclude that it was a wise decission.

Belgium:

Fabien Pasquasy (32'57) did a good race today, he became 4th in the B-final. He was only 42 seconds slower than the winner Graham Gristwood (32'15). Bart Delobel (47'06) became 40th in the same class.

In an interview with Delaatstepost Bart explained his result:

-As most of the B-finalists, I took this race as a training. But a 10 minutes late start was the main reason for the 47 minutes. Fabien did a very good race though.

In the women's B final Veronique Bastin (41'38) became 25th and Vinciane Mulpas (47'54) 33th.

This was the last competition for the Belgian team, because they have no complete relay teams.
