Thursday 14 June, 2 sprint races will take place in Finland, most runners will run Jukola a few days later on Saturday.
One week later, Friday 22 June, there is a Middle distance competiton as part of the MicrO O-Festivalen in Norway.

World Cup Rules and Qualification Programme
The rules for the World Cup have changed this year. The IOF site gives a good overview of these new rules and also shows a nice graphic representation of how the new "Qualification Programme" will work.

Here is a short summary:

Competition 1 Sweden: The competition consists of a qualification race with 3 heats followed by A- and B-Finals. The first 17 competitors from each heat qualify for the A-Final and the remaining competitors compete in the B-Final.
Competition 2 Norway: The competition consists of A- and B-Finals only. The 40 best-placed competitors from the A- Final in competition 1 (Finland) together with the 5 best-placed competitors from the B-Final in Finland qualify for the A-Final

The terrain descriptions for the races in Finland from Bulletin 3:

Sprint Qualification: partly open land/ grass (60 %) partly forest with few slopes (40 %), some big buildings with roads, footpaths and parking places. Running shoes are recommended.

Sprint Final: partly urban area but also demanding forest area with moderate slope at the end. Orienteering shoes are recommended. Open land/ grass 30%, forest area 70%.

Hopefully we can see some nice results of the Belgians. The terrain description of the qualification tells us that reaching the final should be possible.

Etienne has proven in the past that he can perform very well in sprint races. Fabien seems to be back in his shape which he had before and has a good feeling about the coming races.
Joost has proven in his first year of serious training and dedication that he can perform very consistently.

Good luck to the Belgian Team.

Nederlandstalige versie

Competition 1: Fabien Pasquasy, Etienne Van Gasse , Joost Talloen
Competition 2: Christophe Bernard , Fabien Pasquasy, Etienne Van Gasse, Joost Talloen
