Interlandselectie

DAMES OPEN

FABRE Miek
GEYPEN Kim
OEYEN Greet
R1 HENKES Elisabeth
R2 SALLAERTS Saartje

HEREN OPEN

HENDRICKX Pieter
HOEKX Jeroen
VAN DER KLEIJ Thomas
R1 FRANSSEN Desmond
R2 HENDRICKX Tomas

    Hello,
As far as I know, nor World of Orienteering, nor De laatste post concentrate on top elite orienteering. So, I was a surprised and disappointed to find on your site only the names of the D and H Open classes selected for the team. I believe people are interested in the whole team, although the writer might not, and its very unpolite and strange not to mention the whole team.
    Kind regards, Katri

Also, now that I get speeded up, I have found quite strange the comments like: "Hendrickx, being Michiels teammate, did not take the lead and so we arrived in a time of 50:00. Michiels couldn't catch us, but was running as strong as yesterday. " You have mentioned this quite often and I think this attitude is a bit strange for an elite runner... if you catch somebody, you still seem to expect him to lead the way so that you can just follow at full speed...

You can find the other selected runners in the pdf-file.

Of course... but thats not the same thing...

Do you think the Open classes are much more interesting to the general public than the whole team? I dont think so...

I would rather be happy that DLP (Jeroen Hoekx) informed us about the runners in H/Dopen, because that's the only class which is not in the pdf-file. Otherwise there was no way to get this information...
And in general: ofcourse the elite (and also junior) class are the most interesting to read and write about. That's the same in every sport.

    Katri,

Desmond is correct. VVO does not mention the elite categories in the PDF, that's why I've added them in this article. I did not have the time to add other categories. The decision between posting just the elite categories or posting nothing at all is an easy one.

De Laatste Post is not about elite orienteering at all. It is opinion. It is about what I, or any of the other people, think will lead to amusement amongst us or any other potential readers. It is not serious. If I write something it can be true, or it can't. It generally is, even more so in English articles, but there is always some truth deep inside. This truth might be visible to only a few people. The part you quote is such a part. Do not take it seriously. It is clearly a pun on cyclo-cross commentary.

Ben veel meer benieuwd naar de "aanduiding door stemming". Moet je trakteren of zo.

    1.Geert SIMKENS K.O.L. 0:37:24 4'55"
Waarom is Geert niet in de selectie?

    Katri,

I agree with Jeroen and Desmond more or less. De laatste post is a blog... any of the writers mentionned as "bijdragers" can write anything they want. Your suggestions and comments are of course very welcome. I agree that this blog could be more about performances of other than elite runners, about orienteering events as such, profiles of runners and so on but please don't put any pressure on our blogwriters, some (including me) already have a "writers block" ;-)
