Interland weekend ahead
This weekend, on March 2nd 2025 the 37th Orienteering Interland will take place in the fast forest of Drenthe, the Netherlands. Organized by HOC'93 on the map Havelte-West. Started in 1987 as a match between the Flemish VVO (now OV, Orienteering Vlaanderen) and the Dutch NOLB it was expanded with the other Belgian Federation FRSO. In the years following O-England and the German WTB joined. The German team left the Interland match in 2013 but the French, LHFCO had already joined and as a sixth member Luxembourg was welcomed a few years back. The terrain is a plain military training area with a small hilly and detailed part. It is very, very fast but in the more detailed zones, more precise orienteering will be necessary. map
The victory
will probably be decided between OV, FRSO and England. Both FRSO and England
have a bit more runners available then OV, but the runners from OV are probably more experienced
in this type of terrain.
The most
interesting runners in 20- and 21- category:
Julia Krekels (OV), Anna Serrallonga (OV)
and Fanny Tilkin (FRSO) for W21
Evert Leeuws (OV), Louis Haltz (LHFCO) and Joe
Woodley (England) for M21
Louise Mattart (FRSO) , Yaëlle Malard-Mouliere (LHFCO) and Sarah
Rooman (OV) for W20
Mats De Smul (OV), Mathis Brouwier (FRSO) and Arnaud
Mazy (FRSO) for M20
Around
12:00 on Sunday, we'll know who will follow up England as the 37th victor of
the Interland.
